the doers.

Let's rewind to the early stages of the unit c. It was September 2011 and *they were promising to make the year exciting. Learning through making, and making and making, + computing.

4 men were introduced to us at the beginning of the year:
Laurie Baker [ England/ India, 1917-2007],
Eladio Diesto [ Uruguaya, 1917-2000],
Miguel Fisac [ Spain 1913-2003]
+ Alvar Aalto [ Finland, 1898-1976].
This is what they did. One of the many things they did.

LAURIE baker. low cost brick construction

ELADIO diesto. gaussian vault reinforced brick construction

MIGUEL fisac. pre-cast pre-stressed concrete elements

ALVAR aalto. bespoke brick construction

After getting the knowledge of the men who mastered building, we started to use our own little heads and put them together.

The visit to the Grymdykes farm with cnc-machine and rhino-drawings was legendary.
The legend of the black sheep was greeted with respect, some of us found unbelievable strength to carry on without sleep, others had to face the cold of the night by casting + testing and one of us found his voice with guitar. Most of us tried and failed then tried again. One thing was sure: it was a process,
 a learning process.

Without further ado, here are the hands, brains, hearts + souls behind their work
done at the Grymsdyke farm  11/2011.
